Garbage, the Castle, its Lord & the Queen

This paper seeks to explore an alternative approach the interpretation of paradoxal evidence by comparing finds and contexts. It is based upon theorems garbology, developed archaeologist William Rathje (1945-2012) in Tucson Garbage Project. While used archaeological methods for research garbage reflecting modern consumerism, this takes opposite approach, applying garbology late medieval practices. A case study focusing on Boringholm Castle (lifespan between 1369 early 15th century) discusses paradox finding artefacts outstanding elite culture a modest environment that resembles farmstead rather than castle. The range at very broad, demonstrating was household parvenu who tried imitate courtly lifestyle.
